Total Skin Rejuvenation Tips
People look for ways to turn back the clock and rejuvenate their skin as they age. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, over 10 million cosmetic surgery procedures are performed each year in the United States. However, for those who want to look years younger without going under the knife, there are a myriad of other options available.
“There are procedures for every person’s comfort level,” Dr. Sanjiv Saini of M.D. Dermatology, with locations in Edgewater and Lexington Park, Maryland, explained to Ground Report. “Whether you want something minimally invasive, such as precision neck contouring, or you want something more like a chemical peel, there’s something for everyone.”
Read on to learn a few ways to look younger without the risk or downtime involved with plastic surgery.
Consider non-surgical treatments
Luckily, there are several non-surgical procedures to choose from to help turn back the clock. About 3.7 million people per year opt for injections like Botox, Juvederm and Radiesse. Consider options like microdermabrasion and laser treatments to help minimize wrinkles and age spots.
Maintaining an exercise routine is important not only for fitness reasons but to help slow down the aging process. Balance cardio with weight-lifting exercises throughout the week to maximize the benefits of fitness and exercise. Also, try something that reduces stress, like tai chi or yoga, to keep wrinkles at bay. Staying active can help with endurance, strength and balance.
Eat your vegetables
Loaded with antioxidants, fruits and vegetables help keep your body fit and healthy and slow down the aging process. Consume lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein and make sure to drink plenty of water.
Get your beauty rest
According to the National Institutes of Health, getting too little sleep or poor sleep is linked to having a lower quality of life. Adults need seven to nine hours of sleep each night to maintain overall health, but getting enough sleep also helps you age better.
Watch your sun exposure
While sun exposure in minimal amounts can help your body make vitamin D, too much sun exposure can put you at risk for skin cancer. If you spend too much time in the sun, you are also at risk for premature skin aging. Simply take precautions when venturing out in the sun by wearing a hat and sunscreen and staying in the shade as much as possible.
“Even small measures to turn back the aging can have great results,” Dr. Saini told Ground Report. “Combine a few of these options and you will feel and look years younger. The options are available for those who want to look younger.”
