Eating for Hydrated Skin

Keeping your skin moisturized is important to your overall health, especially in the dry winter weather. You could opt for skin moisturizing products or body wash, or you could try hydrating your skin from the inside out!
Like the old rule says, you should drink eight glasses of water per day at a minimum. While that seems like a daunting task for some, think again; you don’t need to drink all eight of those glasses. Roughly 20% of your daily H20 intake comes from solid foods, especially fruits and veggies. Up your intake of these hydrating foods to keep your skin supple and smooth!
This tasty summer veggie has the highest water content of any solid food and is perfect for salads or as a standalone snack. Add it to your diet as often as you can; slice thin and eat with hummus, says Keri Gans, RD, author of The Small Change Diet: 10 Steps to a Thinner and Healthier You.
Celery’s one-two punch of fiber and water helps to fill you up and curb your appetite. Although it weighs next to nothing, it isn’t short on nutrition! Celery contains folate and vitamins A, C, and K. And thanks in part to its high water content, celery neutralizes stomach acid and is often recommended as a natural remedy for heartburn and acid reflux.
Omega-3 Rich Foods
All aboard the Omega Train! Foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids limit water loss in skin cells, keeping your skin looking and feeling refreshed even as dehydrating artificial air or winter weather sucks out any minute remnants of moisture. These awesome Omegas also soften the appearance of wrinkles and boost your skin’s regenerative abilities, keeping it happy and healthy all year long. The best part? Omega-3 foods are everywhere! So this tip is easy to incorporate into your daily life just by adding salmon, tuna, olive oil, anchovies, walnuts, almonds and avocado!
The Whole Veggie
Instead of chopping them up and only using pieces, try the whole veggie! Silica, an element key for healthy bones and teeth, is known to help hydrate your skin and maintain elasticity. And while it’s easily found in fruits and vegetables, often this nutrient gets overlooked because it’s part of the peels of some of the best foods for you. Next time you snack, keep the skin on your cucumber and the string on your celery for a double dose of nutrition.
Whole grains are chalk-full of essential vitamins and minerals that keep your skin looking great. Vitamin B helps to restore collagen (a protein that keeps it firm) in the skin, which is especially important as you age. Try to load your diet with Vitamin B-full foods like whole grains and protein to keep your skin looking and feeling fantastic! Vitamin C also helps with the formation of collagen, and, therefore, can reduce wrinkles and increase hydration, so criticize your diet with oranges, strawberries, grapefruits, and broccoli.
