From Shade to Snacks: The Best Summer Skincare Tips

For some of us, it’s hard to keep our skin looking healthy and radiant even under the best of conditions. So between the scorching heat and the added sun exposure, summer can be a particularly difficult time for skin care. With the dog days of summer right around the corner, it’s important to look for new ways to help supplement your usual skin care regimen.
Limit Sun Exposure
Taking measures to protect your skin from the sun is something that you should do every day, but it’s particularly important during the summer. For starters, try not to spend too much time under the harsh rays the sun. But if you have to go out or you’re looking to spend a fun day at the beach, be sure to protect your skin with SPF-infused sunscreen and beneath the protective shade of an umbrella. Not only can sun exposure cause painful and damaging sunburns, but additional time in the sun can also severely dry out your skin.
Try New Skincare Treatments
In the peak of summertime, your usual skincare regimen may not be enough to protect your skin. So it may be a good idea to give your skin a boost with products that are infused with additional aloe vera. Or if you’re into crafting your own home remedies, try mixing aloe vera gel with honey, or adding a touch of vitamin E oil and camphor to some rose water and applying it to your skin for a quick boost of moisturizing nourishment.
Eat the Right Foods
Believe it or not, what you put inside of your body is just as important as what you put on your body when it comes to keeping your skin healthy. The first key to protecting your skin against the wear and tear of summer is to drink plenty of water, up to eight glasses a day if you can. Additionally, it’s important to eat foods that are rich in nutrients and steer clear of fatty junk foods. Sadly, chips and soda aren’t going to do your skin any favors. Instead, try snacking on fruits, vegetables and sensible servings of nuts. Generally speaking, if a food is good for you, it’s probably good for your skin as well.
The heat and dryness of summer can wreak havoc on even the best of skin. So before summertime really ramps up, develop a battle plan to help your skin weather the summer heat.
