How to Keep Your Skin Radiant Even in Winter

It's that time of year again. Winter is upon us, and that means that your skin is in for a harsh few months. Between the biting cold and the harsh winds, wintertime can cause even the most radiant skin to become dry, cracked and lackluster. But have no fear, because here are some tips to keep your skin looking amazing no matter the weather conditions.
Cold air saps more moisture out of your skin than usual. To combat this problem, make sure that you increase your daily hydration levels. Drink at least eight glasses of water per day to keep the moisture-level in your system at its peaks. Also, help fight off the coldness of the season by drinking warm water. This will help to improve your circulation and flush out skin-destroying toxins.
Take Short, Mild Showers
In the dead of winter, nothing feels better than a long, hot shower. Unfortunately, subjecting your skin to that kind of excessive heat, especially for long periods of time, can dry it out even further. So if you want to keep the moisture in your skin where it belongs, try to keep your showers short and sweet, and keep the temperature as mild as you can stand. Sure, it's not as relaxing, but your skin will thank you.
Nourish Your Skin
As any skincare expert will tell you, healthy skin starts from the inside out, and that's especially important during the winter months. To help your skin thrive no matter how cold the temperature gets, make sure your weekly meal plan consists of plenty of fruits, vegetables and healthy proteins. Eating these foods on a regular basis will help to ensure your skin gets the proper hydration, vitamins and nutrients. And if you're looking for a winter-themed, skin-friendly treat, consider drinking hot cocoa, which is infused with antioxidants that will help to repair and replenish your skin.
If you haven't figured out by now, keeping your skin properly hydrated is essential during wintertime, so make sure that you're moisturizing properly. Ideally, you should be using a lighter lotion or cream in the morning, and a more heavy-duty option at night, allowing the hydration to soak in while you sleep. As an added bonus, you should be using moisturizers that offer some amount of SPF protection, because even in the winter, the sun can wreak havoc on your skin.
Keeping your skin looking great is always a challenge, but it can be especially hard during the winter. By following these tips, however, you can help your skin to look amazing all the way through till spring.
